Good News…

Reflecting back on the week, I quickly realized that it was a FULL week. It was also a week that made my heart feel just that, full and complete. We began the week with our Fiestas Patrias Parade. It was a goosebumps kind of feeling to see our parents, teachers, custodians, and students show up to put our float together (it was truly a team effort). We took 3rd place for the float competition, but I could not be surprised. It was a labor of love and community, and that is exactly what we showcased because it’s who we are (Shout out to Mrs. Ybarra & Mrs. Estrada for helping delegate the details). We ended our week with our first Crunch N Munch (Shout out to Mrs. N), Jaguar/Johnson Jumpoff (Who cares what we call it? All I know is that I am looking forward to the next one), and our first staff social (Wonderful turn out for our first one! Thank you Daisy for organizing this). It was a week of FAMILY, and I am so thankful for it! It was also a sweet reminder that we should not forget to look out for one another. We are each other’s support system and cheerleaders. The job would not be easy without our people!

Capturing Kids’ Hearts Corner:

  • The power of relationships: Last week, I challenged you to find ways to connect with HEART! I loved to see some of you take action (some of you had lunch with your students, some of you attended sporting events). I challenge you to continue having those moments of connection. They are incredibly powerful and they matter!
  • Social Contracts: Continue making these live documents in your classrooms! I saw some of you chose two words to have your class focus on for the week! I want to see this continue! Choose two words to focus on for the day and assign two contract raters. EMPOWER your students to evaluate on their own day and how they can be better tomorrow!
  • Greeting at the Door: Please remember to always greet your students at the door when they come into your classroom in the morning. You can almost always assess if they are walking in with heavy thoughts/emotions with that powerful greeting at the door!

Reminders/Announcements:

  • Continue working on your HR courses if they are not completed already!
  • Prepare for Parent Conferences next week!
  • This is a brand new six weeks. Every student deserves a fresh start.
  • Hispanic Heritage Program is this week (Friday). Here are a few announcements as we plan ahead for this event: Any students who arrive after 7:30, will be sent to their classroom with their breakfast to help us prepare for our 9am show. ALL grade levels will have lunch in their classroom on Friday since the cafeteria will be left set up for our 1:30pm show. If you have lunch duty, it is to be completed in the classrooms.
