While we were there, they expressed A LOT of appreciation for all the different departments that make Bryan ISD tick. KINDNESS

More Kindness

“My 97-year-old dad sadly passed away [recently]…..he is a World War II Vet…
So soon after his passing….two of the nurses (both former military) came into the hospital room and gave him a final Military salute! Wow!!!!” -Rhonda Elam, Houston Elementary Principal

Even More Kindness

“When my house flooded in Hurricane Harvey and we were so overwhelmed with gutting the home and cleaning it out… As we drug load after a load of debris and ruined belongings out to the curb, literal strangers were driving around our neighborhood, giving away free hot, cooked meals, cold drinks, sandwiches, etc. It was the kindest thing I have ever witnessed and it was so appreciated. It restored my faith in mankind.” -Rosie Addison, Hammond-Oliver Health Sciences Academy teacher

So Much Kindness

“The kindest act I have witnessed or received was when I was going to Sam Houston State University. During a stressful overloaded semester and major health problems that depleted my savings account, I went to withdraw because I knew there was no way possible for me to finish paying for the semester. As I spoke with finance, I was told that my current and my next semester was PAID IN FULL. A former professor that had retired after my last semester at Blinn College, saw my hard work and effort to finish strong had taken care of the bill. She left me a kind note that said, ‘I knew you would come here. From day one I knew you would earn your degree. You are one of the strongest young women I have met and I couldn’t imagine being in your shoes and still being as HUMBLE as you are. You have given me a new outlook on life and I want you to be able to use your degree to impact others like you did me. Let this financial burden be no worry to you! Finish Strong!’ She never knew that financial hardship was a problem, she did it because she knew it would help and she said she knew that she wasn’t wasting her money. She did it out of the kindness of her heart. For that, I am forever thankful!” -DiAndrea Ellis, Rudder High special education teacher

Kindness All Around!

“I found out a couple weeks before our Pandemic School Year started, that I am losing my hearing fairly significantly and would need hearing aids in both ears — this discovery was completely by accident. Esmari Yezak and Heather Hubert (SFA Middle School) created a surprise T-Shirt fundraiser to help my husband and I raise the funds to purchase the hearing aids that I needed and to remind me that in all the uncertainty of life, I am not alone. These women are foundational to my tribe. Yes, hundreds of dollars were raised, but so very much more was gained.” -Katie Sisk, SFA Middle School reading teacher
