KUDOS
On Stage
Congratulations to Jeannie Goodman, Bowen Elementary administrative assistant, who recently acted with the Brazos Valley TROUPE in the Gone with the Wind parody play Dirty Dealings in Dixie! The play was the second play Jeannie has acted in with the Troupe. Before acting, she worked as a stage mom and seamstress. Recently, Jeannie directed six segments of the Troupe’s performance of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Way to go Jeannie! Please remember us when you go to Hollywood. 😀
Serving In & Out of the Classroom
In addition to working as a 10th-grade English teacher at Rudder High School, Laura Wood serves as a pastor’s wife at Hope Evangelical Free Church in College Station. Her church recently exhibited the bryanisd.org/essential8 characteristic of Philanthropy by hosting an 18-child Ugandan choir and their seven sponsors. Several church members, including the Woods, opened their homes to 3 to 4 of the kids. Laura said the girls she hosted quickly became a part of the family.
National Recognition
Amazon picked Jason Cordes, Rudder High computer programming teacher, from many applicants to have his quote included in national press about its “Amazon Future Engineer” program.
THE QUOTE: “Amazon’s support assists us in offering important computer science courses for our students, many of whom will go on to be first generation college students,” said Jason Cordes, a teacher at Rudder High School in the Bryan Independent School District in Bryan, Texas. “Our students are enthusiastic and passionate – deserving of as many opportunities as we can give them. To help them get an education in a fast growing field, like computer science, enables them to ensure a successful future.”

In the News Highlights
FI-LAN-THRUH-PEE = PHILANTHROPY = FI-LAN-THROW-WHAT?
It’s been a real treat witnessing the way our student pronounce the bryanisd.org/essential8 characteristic of Philanthropy this month. Their cuteness in saying the word is only surpassed by their clear understanding of the concept. Check out a couple of KBTX news stories below where this juxtaposition rang true. And, as always, please consider sharing these positive stories with your own social media audience. With your help, we can keep getting the word out about the great things happening at Bryan ISD!
