Also,\u00a0we must keep in mind that we are working toward implementing our Tier 1 supports with fidelity. The biggest Tier 1 support we are pushing this year is our PBIS points reward system. We must make sure Tier 1 supports are in place before we can move forward with Tiers 2 and 3 next year.<\/p>\n<p>Following are a few scenarios, some of which were covered in Monday&#8217;s PD session (<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/12ztt0V0wbCOuC-cYm8KnGzlnT482zXWC-CnfWyZMNGU\/edit?usp=sharing\">link to slides is here<\/a>), with possible responses. We should be using these examples models for redirecting and reinforcing student behavior. One\u00a0reinforcing (A) example and one\u00a0redirecting (B) example has been provided for each Texan PROUD characteristic.<\/p>\n<p>These scenarios do get repetitive. Each follows this framework:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reinforcement\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Thank you for being\u00a0<strong>(PROUD<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong> by _____________________ (be specific about what action you are reinforcing and praising).&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Redirection\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;(Name), are you being\u00a0<strong>(PROUD)<\/strong> by ____________________ (be specific about what action you are redirecting). What can you do \/ I do to help you follow our expectations?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #1A: Positive<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar has shared a good thing or has a good attitude about the day&#8217;s lesson\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to praise this scholar by saying, &#8220;Thank your for being <strong>POSITIVE<\/strong> today!&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #1B: Positive<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar has\u00a0entered the classroom with a negative attitude\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to\u00a0redirect this scholar by saying, &#8220;Are you being <strong>POSITIVE<\/strong> today? What is something we can do right now to change our attitude?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #2A:\u00a0Responsible<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar\u00a0has completed all of his \/ her work for the class period in a timely manner\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to praise this scholar by saying, &#8220;Thank your for being\u00a0<strong>RESPONSIBLE<\/strong> by finishing all of your work\u00a0today! Great job!&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #2B:\u00a0Responsible<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar has been off task by talking to his \/ her friends instead of completing work\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to\u00a0redirect this scholar by saying, &#8220;(Name), are you being <strong>RESPONSIBLE<\/strong> right now by talking to your friends instead of working? What should you be doing right now? What can you do about that?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #3A:\u00a0Optimized<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar\u00a0is on time to class\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to praise this scholar by saying, &#8220;Thank your for <strong>OPTIMIZING<\/strong> our class time today. I appreciate you always being on time!&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #3B:\u00a0Optimized<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar is chronically late to class\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to\u00a0redirect this scholar by saying, &#8220;(Name), can we do a better job of <strong>OPTIMIZING<\/strong> our class time? I would love to have some more time with you to make sure you understand our classwork.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #4A:\u00a0Unified<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar has\u00a0helped another scholar out with his \/ her homework\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to praise this scholar by saying, &#8220;Thank your for being\u00a0<strong>UNIFIED<\/strong>\u00a0today! You showed this when I saw you helping out (name). I really appreciate your kindness and unity in that situation.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #4B:\u00a0Unified<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar is the only one not following expectations in the classroom\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to\u00a0redirect this scholar by saying, &#8220;(Name), can you be more <strong>UNIFIED<\/strong>\u00a0with our classroom? We are all following (the expectations, be specific), can I help you join the class?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #5A:\u00a0Dedicated<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar\u00a0worked through a problem \/ question that was particularly difficult but worked to the end, even if he \/ she did not end up with the correct answer\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to praise this scholar by saying, &#8220;Thank your for being <strong>DEDICATED<\/strong> by working through that question. I appreciate your outstanding work ethic!&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scenario #5B:\u00a0Dedicated<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A scholar consistently tries, but fails, to follow classroom expectations\n<ul>\n<li>You may wish to praise this scholar by saying, &#8220;Thank you for your effort but can you be more <strong>DEDICATED\u00a0<\/strong>to our expectations?
