{"id":237,"date":"2018-09-07T12:00:40","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T17:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/?p=237"},"modified":"2018-09-07T07:48:19","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T12:48:19","slug":"instruction-know-how","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/2018\/09\/07\/instruction-know-how\/","title":{"rendered":"Instruction Know How"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Remember we will be looking for the following during walk throughs over the next few weeks. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES POSTED: I can, I will, Burning question<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Must be read by the students at the beginning middle and end of the lesson.<\/p>\n<p>How should objectives be written?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>I can<\/em><\/strong>-is your content objective<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>I will<\/em><\/strong>-is your English Learner activity objective (read, write, speak, or listen)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PLANNING YOUR QUESTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you are planning you must develop higher level thinking questions and embed them into your implementation plan.<\/p>\n<p>What do we accomplish with an implementation plan- it takes all of the guesswork is taken out of teaching.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Did I ask this class yet?<\/li>\n<li>What was I supposed to ask them?<\/li>\n<li>How do I know I am asking higher level questions on the fly?<\/li>\n<li>Are the questions directly aligned to the I can statement?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUESTIONING-HOW TO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Choral\/Whole group questioning is a good tool, as long you ensure <strong><em>everyone<\/em><\/strong> is responding. <em>(thumbs up\/thumbs down, stand\/sit, show of fingers, etc.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What is Cold Call?<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>POSE the QUESTION<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>GIVE WAIT TIME (state everyone should be thinking about their response)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Randomly select a scholar to answer-(popsicle sticks, desk numbers, app, etc.)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>By posing the question, waiting then calling on a scholar \u2013 EVERYONE is on the \u2019hook\u2019 for the answer.<\/p>\n<p>What happens if you pose the question and immediately call on someone?<\/p>\n<p>What happens if you call on someone and then pose the question?
