{"id":1761,"date":"2020-09-11T12:00:14","date_gmt":"2020-09-11T17:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/?p=1761"},"modified":"2020-09-11T11:42:44","modified_gmt":"2020-09-11T16:42:44","slug":"texan-sages-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/2020\/09\/11\/texan-sages-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Texan Sages"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Action Item:&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Teachers please begin the\nimplementation of the Texan Sage.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purpose:&nbsp; The Classroom\nSage is the \u2018greeter\u2019 for your classroom.&nbsp; The Sage will state the I can,\nI will plus the burning question of the lesson.&nbsp; By calling attention to\nthe object for the day.&nbsp; Additionally, the act of properly greeting an\nadult with a fist or elbow bump and talked with him\/her about the lesson is a\ngreat real-life&nbsp;skill that they can carry into their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does the Sage do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a new adult enters the classroom, the Sage\ncompletes the following tasks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;Greet the arriving adult:&nbsp; Choice of how you greet: maybe a fist or elbow bump and then states the following \u201cHi, my name is (Student Name) welcome to our class.\u201d<\/li><li>They then state the objectives of today:&nbsp;\u201cToday, we will be&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;the use of inferencing in a poem.&nbsp; We will share with our table groups use of inferencing and how it used by the author.&nbsp; By the end of class, we should be able to \u2026.\u201d<\/li><li>&nbsp; Please make yourself comfortable and thank you for coming to our class.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Teacher\u2019s Role<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set a rotational sage schedule for each\nperiod.&nbsp; The sage should not be the same person for the entire school\nyear.&nbsp; It is a good idea to have an alternate Sage in the event the assigned\nSage being absent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a script ready for the sage to use if it is needed. The information concerning the I can and  I will statements, plus Burning Question should be visible in your room to read.&nbsp; Have your class practice being a sage with a partner\u2026you may even need to teach scholars how to properly greet others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sages are often nervous and unsure\u2026this is completely normal,\njust keep encouraging them!
