{"id":1715,"date":"2021-03-05T06:00:02","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T12:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/?p=1715"},"modified":"2021-03-07T23:52:26","modified_gmt":"2021-03-08T05:52:26","slug":"texan-sages-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/2021\/03\/05\/texan-sages-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Texan Sages"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Action Item:&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Teachers please remember the implementation of the Texan Sage.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purpose:&nbsp; The Classroom\nSage is the \u2018greeter\u2019 for your classroom.&nbsp; The sage will state the I can,\nI will and burning question.&nbsp; By calling attention to the objectives of\nthe day the scholars are clear on what they are expected to learn.&nbsp; Additionally,\nthe act of properly greeting an adult, fist bump or elbow bump and talked with\nhim\/her about the lesson is a great real life&nbsp;skill that they can carry\ninto their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does the sage do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When any new adult enters the classroom the\nsage completes the following tasks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;Greet the\narriving adult:&nbsp; Choice of how you greet: maybe a fist bump or elbow bump\nand then states the following \u201cHi, my name is (Student Name) welcome to our\nclass.\u201d<\/li><li>State the objectives\nof the today:&nbsp; \u201cToday, we will be&nbsp;identify&nbsp;the use of inferencing\nin a poem.&nbsp; We will share with our table groups use of inferencing and how\nit used by the author.&nbsp; By the end of class, we should be able to \u2026.\u201d<\/li><li>&nbsp; Please make\nyourself comfortable and thank you for coming to our class<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Teacher Role<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set a rotational sage schedule for each\nperiod.&nbsp; The sage should not be the same person for an entire week or\nschool year.&nbsp; It is a good idea to have an alternate Sage in the event of\nthe assigned Sage being absent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a script ready for the sage to use if it\nis needed The I can, I will and Burning Question should be visible in your room\nto read.&nbsp; Have your class practice being a sage with a partner\u2026you may\neven need to teach the scholars how to properly greet others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sages are often nervous and unsure\u2026this is completely normal\njust keep encouraging them!
