{"id":151,"date":"2018-08-31T12:44:31","date_gmt":"2018-08-31T17:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/?p=151"},"modified":"2018-08-31T12:44:31","modified_gmt":"2018-08-31T17:44:31","slug":"texan-sages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bryanisd.org\/textribune\/2018\/08\/31\/texan-sages\/","title":{"rendered":"Texan Sages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Action Item: <\/strong><em>Teachers please begin the implementation of the Texan Sage.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Purpose:<\/span>\u00a0 The Classroom Sage is the &#8216;greeter&#8217; for you classroom.\u00a0 The sage will state the I can, I will and burning question.\u00a0 By calling attention to the objectives of the day the scholars are clear on what they are expected to learn.\u00a0 Additionally, the act of properly greeting an adult, shaking hands and talked with him\/her about the lesson is a great life\u00a0skill that they can carry with into their future.<\/p>\n<p>What does the sage do?<\/p>\n<p>When any new adult enters the room the sage completes the following tasks:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Greet the arriving adult:\u00a0 Shake hand and state the following &#8220;Hi, my name is Texan Scholar welcome to our class.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>State the objectives of the today:\u00a0 &#8220;Today, we will be\u00a0identify\u00a0the use of inferencing in a poem.\u00a0 We will share with our table groups use of inferencing and how it used by the author.\u00a0 By the end of class we should be able to &#8230;.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Please make yourself comfortable and thank you for coming to our class<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Teacher Role<\/p>\n<p>Set a rotational sage schedule for each period.\u00a0 The sage should not be the same person for an entire week or school year.\u00a0 It is a good idea to have an alternate Sage in the event of the assigned Sage being absent.<\/p>\n<p>Have a script ready for the sage to use of the I can, I will and Burning Question easily visible.\u00a0 Have your class practice being a sage with a partner&#8230;you may even need to teach the scholars how to properly shake hands.\u00a0Sages<\/p>\n<p>The sages are often nervous and unsure&#8230;this is completely normal just keep encouraging them!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Action Item: Teachers please begin the implementation of the Texan Sage.
