REVIEW OF STEP 6: Have students participate in structured conversations.
According to the book, “In several studies, scholars who participated in discussions with other scholars about a topic showed a percentile gain of nineteen points over scholars who did not participate in discussions … scholars need at least six exposures to a word before they can remember its meaning. Structured conversations ensure that scholars get an exposure to academic vocabulary and a chance to use new terms in an authentic context.” (p. 45)
