Sometimes the hardest part is showing up. What does this mean for our online students?
Previous research shows that the following two characteristics are necessary for online learning to be effective:
First and foremost, students need access to Wi-Fi and devices. Secondly, students and teachers need to demonstrate proficiency in using these devices.
The good news is that we, the Bryan ISD team, strove to meet these requirements. When schools closed unexpectedly in March, our school district ensured our students had Wi-Fi access and laptops. This was not the case for all Texas school districts.
Over time, students and teachers alike are becoming more technologically literate. Kudos to all of us as we prepare our students to thrive in the 21st century!
