Healthy Life Habits
Q. Can you guess what the American Academy of Pediatrics states is one of the most important gifts you can give your child from an early age?
Answer: “Children do best when routines are regular, predictable, and consistent.”
Having a consistent household routine is its own gift. Children know what is expected of them at all times throughout the day. They know when they will eat breakfast. They know when they will leave for school and come home again. They know when it is time to play and when dinner will be ready. This predictable structure allows children to feel safe, cared for, and prepared to meet new challenges in life. The adults in the family are the architects of their children’s lives. Implementing structure and routine will help children better manage themselves and their environments. It’s a win-win situation.
Regular school attendance is one of the most important lessons you can teach your child in their early life. The routines children find at school lead to better performance in academics and in their personal lives. The responsibility of showing up every day and participating in classes teaches children to develop healthy life habits. Studies have proven time and time again that children thrive when they have structured, consistent routines.
As always, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s life.
