We have missed our parents and can’t wait for you all to get back into the building. We all know that a parent presence is beneficial to students and their education. You may notice a change that we think we will keep in place. In the morning only KG and 1st grade go to the cafeteria for breakfast. K-4 students pick up their breakfast and eat in the classrooms. PK has breakfast delivered to the classroom. We like this system as the cafeteria is less crowded, there are no lines, and it is a much calmer start to the day.
In January we are starting a Henry the Hawk writing competition. Students will be shown a picture of Henry doing some sort of activity. They will be encouraged to write a story about his adventure. This is strictly voluntary. This is an incentive to motivate students to write. There will be prizes awarded to the top writers in each grade level.
In February we will participate in Texas Reads One Book. The book that we will be reading is Fenway and Hattie. I am excited to tell you that we won a grant from the Texas A&M Mayes Business School, which means each student will receive a copy of this book. (Thank you to Mrs. Drymalla for applying) As a campus we will read at the same pace, have activities, question of the day, and draw for prizes to get students excited about this reading.
Federal Report Cards for the state, the district, and each of the district’s campuses are now available on the district’s website at this link:
