Help your students “hold” their thinking by using anchor charts in your classroom. An anchor chart is a visual that contains content-specific processes, strategies, guidelines, etc. that are pertinent to the lesson. It helps students reference new and previously taught content and make connections between prior knowledge and new learning. You can build an anchor chart during your mini-lesson and students can add ideas as they make discoveries or apply information. Students can even create their own anchor chart during small group or independent work time. Consider implementing an anchor chart in your next mini-lesson!
