Hello Collegiate Families!
I am sure you are aware of the developing story regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our nation, our state, and our community. The Bryan ISD leadership team has been actively monitoring the situation and a lot has happened in the last 72 hours. In light of this, all of Bryan ISD, including Bryan Collegiate, will be closed for next week, March 16th – March 20th, based on the continued spread of the Coronavirus.
The original communication sent to all families from the district, and Dr. Whitbeck, can be found by clicking HERE.
In regards to Bryan Collegiate specifically, please know a couple of things:
1. Prior to Spring Break, Bryan Collegiate ordered large containers of hand sanitizer and disinfectant cleaning cloths for daily cleaning needs for ALL classrooms for teachers to use.
2. Before the break, we requested that the custodial staff do a through cleaning of the Bryan Collegiate campus. Now that we are closed an additional week, our building is going through an intense cleaning and disinfecting this upcoming week.
3. While our cafeteria at Bryan Collegiate will be closed next week for meal service, all BISD students have access to a “grab and go” lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 16-20 at Bryan High School, Long Intermediate, Rayburn Intermediate and Kemp-Carver Elementary School. Families may choose any of these four locations.
4. Encourage your Bryan Collegiate students to reach out to their teachers if they have any specific questions about any classwork they have due.
5. Blinn College has also closed for the week of March 16th as well – so no Blinn classes will be held next week. You can see the communication from the Blinn College Chancellor, Dr. Mary Hensley, by clicking HERE.
6. When we return, feel free to gift teachers with hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, Lysol, or Kleenex/tissue. Those are items that teachers often purchase out of their own pockets because we can never get enough.
7. While Bryan Collegiate will not be open next week, if you have any questions, please feel free to call the Bryan Collegiate office on Monday at (979) 209-2790 if you have any questions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make decisions in the best interest of our community and students.
Stay safe and stay healthy,
Mr. Roberts
